False religion is no religion, just as false worship is no worship. And, if the worship is false, then whose kingdom is being built? In warfare, two of the most strategically used weapons are force (deadly or otherwise) and deception. I have been led on a spiritual journey for the past few years, oftentimes not knowing what it was I was to discover. Somethings were immediately made manifest to me, other things were revealed during the process and for those craftier settings, it was only after I left that I was shown the purpose. With a couple of churches I was allowed to stay there for a year, while others ranged from a few visits to a few months. You see, some people are better at covering their acts while others are blatantly open and notorious with their offenses. At the end of the day, it’s all the same — a stench in God’s nostrils.
I have encountered people, under the pretense of seeking to teach truth and administer justice, boldly lying without the blink of an eye, nor a hint of remorse; covering potential criminal and sinful acts, showing respect of persons and participating in acts of bribery and the buying of positions. These were the acts of their leaders and elders. But the question to ask is, who is putting them in these positions? In every organization that’s been exposed for corruption or criminal acts, we see that it actually took a team to put and tie it all together. Now, whether one person was made to be the “fall guy” is another story, but there was more than one set of dirty hands that played a part in the cover-up. No one person can sustain that level of deception without a team. You see, everything flows from the head downward. Ever notice how you can have a pain or be sick in your body (for example, a stomach ache, sore knee, pain in your feet), but you can still function and have a productive day? Contrast that with having a headache or anything associated with the head — your eyes, teeth, sinus issues, etc. Anything associated with the head can throw your whole body out of whack rendering you incapable of functioning. If the head is sick, please know the body is sick. How quickly we’ve forgotten some major scandals such as Adelphia, Enron, AIG, WorldCom, Bernie Madoff, Lehman Bros., Merrill Lynch and many others ( I won’t begin to name those scandals affiliated with the church). If we’ve forgotten, that means the lessons weren’t learned and thus, are likely to be repeated. What’s even sadder, many churches have incorporated the worldly, corrupt value systems, and make them a part of how they “do business.” Non-profits have become profit centered, conducting the “appearance” of spiritual things, with worldly individuals who have a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof. From such turn away.
Whenever you have a mix of greed, personal ambition and the love of money, evil is also present. James 3 tells us there are two kinds of wisdom:
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.
The Word tells us that whoever doesn’t receive, welcome or heed the words of a disciple of Christ, to leave that house or city and shake its dust off our feet. I post this Word to you — fallen congregationalists, false worshippers, apostate churches — from Jeremiah 7, take heed!
This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD: “Stand at the gate of the LORD’s house and there proclaim this message: ” ‘Hear the word of the LORD, all you people of Judah who come through these gates to worship the LORD. This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Reform your ways and your actions, and I will let you live in this place. Do not trust in deceptive words and say, “This is the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD!” If you really change your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly, if you do not oppress the alien, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm, then I will let you live in this place, in the land I gave your forefathers for ever and ever. But look, you are trusting in deceptive words that are worthless. ” ‘Will you steal and murder, commit adultery and perjury, burn incense to Baal and follow other gods you have not known, and then come and stand before me in this house, which bears my Name, and say, “We are safe”–safe to do all these detestable things? Has this house, which bears my Name, become a den of robbers to you? But I have been watching declares the LORD. “ ‘Go now to the place in Shiloh where I first made a dwelling for my Name, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of my people Israel. While you were doing all these things, declares the LORD, I spoke to you again and again, but you did not listen; I called you, but you did not answer. Therefore, what I did to Shiloh I will now do to the house that bears my Name, the temple you trust in, the place I gave to you and your fathers. I will thrust you from my presence, just as I did all your brothers, the people of Ephraim.’ “So do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them; do not plead with me, for I will not listen to you. Do you not see what they are doing in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? The children gather wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead the dough and make cakes of bread for the Queen of Heaven. They pour out drink offerings to other gods to provoke me to anger. But am I the one they are provoking? declares the LORD. Are they not rather harming themselves, to their own shame? ” ‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: My anger and my wrath will be poured out on this place, on man and beast, on the trees of the field and on the fruit of the ground, and it will burn and not be quenched. ” ‘This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Go ahead, add your burnt offerings to your other sacrifices and eat the meat yourselves! For when I brought your forefathers out of Egypt and spoke to them, I did not just give them commands about burnt offerings and sacrifices, but I gave them this command: Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Walk in all the ways I command you, that it may go well with you. But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts. They went backward and not forward. From the time your forefathers left Egypt until now, day after day, again and again I sent you my servants the prophets. But they did not listen to me or pay attention. They were stiff-necked and did more evil than their forefathers.’ “When you tell them all this, they will not listen to you; when you call to them, they will not answer. Therefore say to them, ‘This is the nation that has not obeyed the LORD its God or responded to correction. Truth has perished; it has vanished from their lips. Cut off your hair and throw it away; take up a lament on the barren heights, for the LORD has rejected and abandoned this generation that is under his wrath.
Truth comes and it is forced out. God speaks, but you don’t listen, He calls and you don’t answer.
God has instructed no prayers or petitions for this type of people. Thus, only pray God’s will. Pride comes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. God is just and never sends destruction before a warning.
You’re harming yourselves, to your own shame!
